Certainly sounds like interference, or something touching something else.

 

I was thinking it could be interference but i'm not quite sure what is doing it. I'm trying to think of objects that cause interference... The only things i can really think of is my high speed adapter, router, subwoofer adapter, monitor?? Think any of these could be the cause of the interference? BTW, thanks for the quick reply.

are you using a CRT moniter or a LCD
some CRTs when the get old (and somtimes new) i will get the sound

 

My monitor is a DELL 2007WFP. It's an LCD. So i guess i can rule that one out. I still get that same high pitch noise randomly, rather annoying. Still baffled...

 

Hey guys, just to let you know i'm still stumped with the same problem. Same random high pitch noises. I can't determine the cause of any interference from anywhere, so i'm begining to doubt it's that. Also, i separated my GPU from my sound card in my pc as far away from each other as i can, so the GPU can't be causing any kind of interference either. Wires in my pc are neatly organized and nothing seems to be where it shouldn't be. Um, i'm fairly positive all my drivers are up to date. I can't really think of anything else. Could my adapter for my subwoofer cause interference? Also, the house i live in uses an old fuse box for power, could that cause problems of any sort? Please, if somebody thinks they can help in any way, give any ideas, i would appreciate it.

 

I recently discovered that when the symptoms occur, being that high pitch frequency noise, the more i turn the bass up the worst the pitch noise becomes. It even begins crackling as i add the bass, and then when i turn the bass down the crackling goes away and i'm left with the usual hight pitch noise. I'm just trying to give as much detail to this problem as i can.

 

Hi. I was recently given a set of these to see if i could fix them. although he didn't have quite the same problem, I'm pretty sure it's to do with the extremely bad soldering inside the bass unit. On the back of the pcb, some of the soldered contacts were touching each other. I solved his problem by carefully scratching the offending solder off (being careful not to scratch the rest of the pcb). There are a plethora of screws and tonnes of glue making it nearly impossible to work on properly. If you still have warranty on it, don't try this, send it back. Good luck.

 

By the way, If you do try my suggestion, some of the soldered parts are supposed to be touching. Make sure that you only separate them if they are NOT soldered to the same run. you will see copper runs, like roads. any connecting solder on these "roads" need to be left alone. Sorry if I'm going on a bit. You probably knew that anyway.

 

Hey, thanks for the advice. At this point anything is worth a try although i'm not sure if i should attempt something that's too complex. I'm not sure if my warranty has expired either so i just may have to give it a try. Once again thanks.

 

I have experienced the same type of thing. In my case, I bought a Dell XPS700 with an X-FI XTremeAudio card.

I only notice it while gaming, and when it happens all game sound goes away and is replaced with a high pitch tone. I have to reboot in order to get the sound to go away. It does it really frequently while playing BioShock.

When I remove the sound blaster card and use the sound built into my motherboard, all game sound is fine. I'm using all of the latest drivers, firmware, bios, etc. I'm thinking it's something faulty in the sound blaster card itself since it doesn't happen unless that card is installed.

 

My high pitch noise which seems to happen randomly, during gaming or listening to music or even when the speakers are idle, this sound just happens randomly. Also when i hear the noise it doesn't kill all other sound, it just kind of tries to take over i guess lol, sometimes becoming louder than all other sound. Really distracting and annoying to say the least! I used to have an xps 600 before i bought my 710 and it happened the same for me on both systems. I believe my problem has something to do with the speakers themselves, more than likely it's probably a problem with the subwoofer. One day soon, unless somebody can solve this problem, i think i'm going to operate on the subwoofer lol.

 

Yes, that's completely different from my situation. If it's not under warrentee, I think opening it up and tinkering may be a good idea. Best case, you fix the problem. Worst case you buy new speakers and fix the problem. Besides, it's kinda fun to operate on stuff.

this helped for me : go to control panel - system - device manager
under bluetooth radios (my xps doesnt have a built in radio but still the option was there, strange but true) go to dell truemobile 355 or whatever it might be called on your laptop - go to properties - power management and uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" That made the noise disappear in my case

you can also use rmtool to fix this but rmtool makes the fans run almost constanlty because it makes the temperature rise.

 

Thanks for the advice herre, but i cannot find any of those options under device manager. I think because you're using a laptop and i'm using a desktop the options are different. Also i've had this same issue with the same speakers on two different systems, i'm begining to truly believe it's a problem with the speakers themselves. If you have any other ideas i'll be listening, thanks.
