WordPad default font keeps reverting to Calibri every new word

I don't like Calibri and I want to use Arial and according to everything google linked me to this is no issue but it just won't work.

New wordpad docs starting with Calibri as default font is irrelevant but what really annoys me to no end is that I use ctrl+a and then set it everything to Arial and this sure works, but the moment I press enter to type a new type it automatically switches back to Calibri.

Why? How can I just make wordpad stick to the font I manually select and not constantly change back to Calibri?

First option) open new document and change the font to Arial before you type anything.
Second option) Open new document and change the font to Arial and then save this as the default rtf file.
Here is a video that shows how to do it.

Been there, done that.
As mentioned this is what google says, or to name the new rtf file "WordPad" and both files now sit on my hd and do nothing whatsoever.
In the first place, this should only change what the font is like when you open anew rtf doc but the problem is a real bug that is totally unrelated.

Obviously regardless of defaults it should be impossible that when you select a different font and then press space, wordpad automatically changes your font back to Calibri.

Is there some way to reinstall wordpad or maybe some windows update without known other issues?
in Win 7 most updates I installed broke something or other on my PC and it caused a lot of mayhem so if possible I'd like to avoid updates that are not known to really have no side effects.

I saved it in Documents and it does nothing either.

I also paid a bit closer attention to what is actually happening, it's worse than I thought.

Regardless of what font I have selected, the moment I start typing anything whatsoever WordPad switches back to Calibri, even for the very first character I type.

Really, as I asked for from the start, is there a way to repair / reinstall WordPad? like with a windows update or something?

This is a deep rooted bug and not something that can possibly be fixed by adding a file somewhere, completely different from the cookie cutter solutions on google and I'd appreciate if you'd stop just suggesting the same as google does even though I explicitly said this does not work for me, you are just wasting everyone's time.

Since Wordpad is part of the Microsoft ecosystem, it's not as simple as going to Add/Remove programs, however, there are a couple of ways to uninstall and install Wordpad, from an advanced option, or via powershell.

This link has the directions. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials.../tutorials/140422-install-uninstall-microsoft-wordpad-windows-10-a.html#option1

I would suggest uninstalling wordpad first, restart, then install it again.

Having said that, I don't think WordPad is 20H2, but your OS itself is. To confirm, in the search option in your taskbar, type winver and press enter. A box similar to that one above will tell you the version. If your on Windows 10 20H2, then you should update to the latest and last version of 22H2 and see if that helps you. Windows Update should have the 22H2 update available.

I was having a mess with mine, and I think I got it to work. I went to the location of Wordpad (Start | Windows Accessories) and rightclicked and selected 'More' and clicked on Run as Administrator.

I then opened file I just created earlier as a normal user that was set as calibri. I selected all, changed the font, clicked save, and closed it. Reopened it as a normal user, and Arial was set.

Does that help?
