I think you may have left-clicked on the toolbar, held it with your mouse, and then dragged it up there by mistake. Try moving the mouse to the toolbar, left-clicking on it, and then drag it down - slowly - to the bottom of the screen so it adjusts to how you had it previously.

 

It is at the bottom not at the top.

After seeing that image last night, I was wondering myself why the thread is posted in the "Windows 7" section.
Unless the computer is running Windows 7, but is using some third-party Windows 11 images.

 

So how do I get rid of the what bar at the bottom that is covering up my icons?

 

I think that that white bar is your actual task bar, just that the start button and etc are missing. The reason I say so is because to the right you see the ^ notch that reveals more systray icons, and the cloud icon is visible there too. You are remoting to Win 11 virtual desktop, correct ?

Unfortunately I do not know how the Start button is made to disappear.

try this: right click on the task bar. Choose taskbar settings. Click on Taskbar Behaviours. The checkmark 'automatically hide the taskbar' . See if the taskbar disappears. Then uncheckmark it. See if that will bring back the Start button.

 

When I right or left click on it nothing happens. Can’t do anything to it.

 

What program are you using to remote into the virtual machine ? It is not Remote Desktop nor Teamviewer because those 2 have a small menu at the top of the screen.

 

I do use Remote Desktop.

 

Maybe it is time to ask your IT Department to give you a new virtual machine. There is no control toggle in Win 11 that makes the Start button disappear. It appears that the whole taskbar is busted since you cannot right click it and get a popup menu. The white bar is definitely your taskbar, because it is translucent and you can see a faint image of the desktop wallpaper behind it.

 

The IT have remotely tried the fix it.

 

If IT can't fix it then they should provide you with a new one. It doesn't cost real money, they would just deactivate the old one and prepare a new one. They would only need to prep the virtual machine with the software you use.

 

Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, this will open Task Manager, find Windows Explorer, right click Windows Explorer and click restart.

Or open an elevated command prompt and type
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe && start explorer.exe
hit enter.

I've re-read the thread and all I see mentioned is one Windows 7 computer using Remote Desktop to get into a Windows 11 computer.

 

Yes all three of my computers. One is windows 7 one is windows 10 and one is windows 11. When I turn on any of my computers the regular task bar is fine on all of them. Then when I sign into my remote dest top into the virtual machine for work then that is when the white task bar at the bottom of my screen is there and it covers all of my icons.

Well you have your answer. Something is wrong with Remote desktop or Virtual Machine.
