I am unable to install my Microsoft Office 2000 Professional Premium and get the message:-

Error 135 reading from this file! C:\Window\fonts\Hatten.TTF. Verify that you can access, Retry. Cancel

I have installed it many times before without problem.

I tried both Express and Customize installs.

I tried to install just Excel or Word which is all I need.

Always the same error message

I am running Vista

Be grateful for help

Thanks and it has installed and I am amazed. More than that I can't believe it.

There is just one thing. The feature I particularly wanted Microsoft Photo Editor is in Office Tools on that disk and Office Tools has not installed.

I looked at the disk and Office Tools has a different icon from all the others that have installed. I have changed it so that it is the same as all the others that installed.

Would I be tempting providence if I uninstalled it and installed it again?

Thanks for help

Just reinstall. Don't uninstall first. Just make sure you use the same options as last time for destination and it'll just overwrite. You may want a custom option to choose extra programs to install.

Thanks.

It offered me the option of repair to original state, add or remove features or remove entirely.

I chose add or remove features so I chose the office tools and minus all the rest of Word etc.

After a while I got the message data error (cyclic redundancy check) OK and having clicked OK got installation ended prematurely because of an error.

I did it again without minusing those already installed but got the same error messages.

If I'm not mistaken that means there's a physical defect in the actual CD like a scratch or data corruption.

Seeing as it's 16 years old its very likely its corrupted or scratched

That seemed to be the conclusion when it would not install originally which is why I was surprised you got it to install although it has been kept pristine so it was a shock when it would not install in the first place.

Is there any other way of getting Microsoft Photo Editor? I do like it and am lost without it.

This disk installed perfectly on my other PC a couple of weeks ago so Microsoft Photo Editor is on there.

Can it be copied across?

Thanks for help

You honestly could try making a copy

Download MagicDisc and then once installed double click the icon to run the program.

Insert your office CD into the CD drive.

Locate a silver and blue CD shaped icon in the taskbar next to the clock and right click it and select Make CD DVD image.
Save the image to the desktop for easy access.

It will then make an ISO image which you can then burn to a new CD.

Is that the whole disk?

I was thinking of copying Microsoft Photo Editor from the other PC where this disk installed perfectly a couple of weeks ago. I have the rest installed on this PC from my first attempt at your instructions.

Sorry, I am a novice and this is getting a bit much for me.

Thanks for help

Ahh I see where you were going above.

Yes that's coping the whole disc but to a fresh scratch free copy.

You cannot move one program, it won't work that way. It needs to be installed from the installation media.

Ok lets try something else

On a side note it may be a good idea to ha e some blank DVDs laying around for spur of the moment needs. They are cheap and can be bought anywhere.

Right click on the MagicDisc icon and select Mount Image

Then navigate to the ISO you just saved and mount it. Then try to run the installation from the virtual drive

The Magic Disc program icon is on the Desktop, the Silver blue shaped icon you told me to right click on before is in the taskbar systray, neither of them have burn to disc.

I cannot send a screenshot as I don't have Microsoft Photo Editor

No it isn't there and I don't have a disk.

Can we start again please.

Originally your instructions amazingly installed this Office but not the Microsoft Photo Editor I badly need.

Would you be able to talk me through those instructions again but installing the Microsoft Photo Editor please.

Thanks

I may be misunderstanding this so I'd like a little clarification as to what you are trying to accomplish here please.

As I understand it, you've installed MS Office 2000 on one computer previously and are now trying to install it (or one of its components) on another computer as well? If this is correct, are they both desktop computers?

Also please advise what operating system(s) are running.

Thank you for your message.

I must stress that I have not done anything untoward.

I purchased Microsoft Professional Premium 2000 16 years ago and it is still registered with Microsoft in my name.

I have had to re-install it on its two machines, one tower and one small laptop for travelling, because it was lost off both machines when they were sent for repair.

The difficulty I have had re-installing it is that the disk is just much too old.

I took the decision to replace it with Microsoft Office Professional 2010, also purchased new and registered with Microsoft in my name, but I cannot get along with it and I have just uninstalled it. Hence the need to re-install the very old version.
