Hello there,

This is the first time I am using this forum, I have searched the web trying to find an answer to my problems but to no avail.
A brief background to the problem:

I have had this router for about 5 years now, I had problems setting it up from the start as I was fairly young but I eventually found a way around it - no problems since.
Through memory I am sure I had this problem previously but I had the disk to give me guidelines on what to do(which I don't have any more).
I have phoned up virgin (my ISP) and they said it was an issue to do with the router, to which I searched into the routers address, in this case 192.168.50.1.
Scrolling down, I noticed that under the WAN section it says:

MAC Address:00-16-0A-09-CC-69IP Address:0.0.0.0Dynamic IPSubnet Mask:0.0.0.0 Default Gateway:0.0.0.0 Obtaining Network Parameters...DNS Server:0.0.0.0 , 0.0.0.0

I have spent a good part of today trying soloutions to get this to work again but I just can't seem to find a way around it. As I said, the router has been working fine for pretty much 5 years now and I really do not know why the WAN went. In addition, it was set up wireless.
How can I obtain the newtork parameters?

Thank you for your time of reading, any feedback is largely appreciated! :)

Thanks, Tom.

Hi Tom,

Sometimes, the firmware upgrade is needed for the router in order for the router to act properly in case if there is an issue with the bugs.It is all depending on the router manufacturer engineer. Have you upgrade the firmware for the past 5 years ago?

No, I have not ever done a Firmware upgrade that I am aware of.
Firmware Version:3.4.0 Build 061226 Rel.54728n
Hardware Version:LW050UKv2 081520EF

This is my current Firmware/Hardware, Above this there is a file box to browse for uploads but I do not think I have any updates downloaded/ on the computer.
Could this be the issue then?

Could be,however you may try to download the bin file from the router manufacturer website.. simply go to the website and search the firmware file for your router firmware version and download it then you can upload it on the router interface http://192.168.50.1

after firmware upgrading is done. Please reset the router, and configure back the router settings as you did before at earliest time

Make sure you also power cycle (unplug for 30 seconds) the modem (if it is a separate unit), just in case the modem and router got "out of sync."

Sometimes a reset to factory default settings will get a router working again, so you could try that first. But even if that works you ought to proceed with the firmware update (if there is one). If the update and factory reset (with any needed reconfiguration) still leaves you with WAN IP 0.0.0.0 you need a new router.
