This is really annoying me. I have followed the first 2 solutions here but still the same thing happens. I've run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and sfc /scannow. It found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.

I have disabled Windows Updates, in Windows services and with group policy editor but somehow it still tries to apply updates! How is this possible when I've disabled them? I want to boot into Windows and not have to wait 20+ minutes until it tries to revert changes back. Sometimes multiple times. It would be helpful if it could tell me what didn't go as planned. A useless message doesn't help me to diagnose the problem.

In addition in Windows Update in settings it shows this:

I've just repaired using System File Checker so I shouldn't have to run the Windows Update repairer? I read about it and more often than not it screws things up further.

I checked in disk management and my C drive has the System, Boot, Page File, Crash Dump and Basic Data Partition all on one partition. And there is 1.84GB of Unallocated space on there. I'm not sure how that happened. I don't know if I should create a New Simple Volume incase that stuffs up my OS drive. I remember when I created a backup and restored it using AOMEI Backupper I had to create the partition manually using diskpart. Maybe I selected a wrong option. But I think I did it correctly.

How do I find out which update(s) its stuck on? And how can I resolve the problem? Is there a way I can manually download whatever update(s) its trying to apply and install them manually?

you can try running the following commands in an administrator command prompt

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /scanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /restoreHealth

source: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image

you can also rename the update downloads folder path
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

to download.old and restart the windows update service to try and clear the stuck or bad windows update.

to restart the windows update service in the search box type services open the services app go to windows update right click and choose restart.

1. YOU will never have a good working system whilst you persist in try to stop windows updates - whatever you may read and where ever you may read it I can assure you that it does NOT work
you can change the registry which is what group policy actually does and you can invoke all manner of tweaks but you will not stop updates on windows 11

2. I have also in the past warned you about the lack of free space on C drive which was, when I told you you needed to increase it 48GB on a 463GB partition
Hard Drives: C: 463 GB (48 GB Free); D: 3726 GB (206 GB Free); E: 3726 GB (1632 GB Free); F: 238 GB (222 GB Free); I: 931 GB (20 GB Free);

as an aside issue C partition is close to the lower acceptable limit for smooth operation
and I drive is WAY under the limit to use in the normal meaning of the word

Yea but that doesn't matter. My PC performs well.

4. well it does not seem to me that it performs well

However the choice of whether you accept advice or continue as you are -which is obviously with many problems - IS YOUR CHOICE

Good luck with it

I have stopped Windows updates. It doesn't matter how hard Microsoft tries to force them I will not allow them unless I authorize them. Yes I've used registry hacks and other tweaks.

I paid for 500GB and I'm going to use it. I've had it as low as 30GB and it worked fine. Why would I leave free space? That is a waste. Virtual memory doesn't need that much.
I did have a good working system. Everything was going fine until Microsoft stuffed up with a update that wasn't needed. Now its stuck trying to download it over and over in an infinite loop. I've turned off updates so it can't keep trying. I don't care what "security risk" that poses. I am not going to let Microsoft keep on messing up my system. Btw all my drives are SSDs. Two of them are M.2. So I could still run with 1GB left on each of them and it wouldn't matter.

How about people actually help me identify what is the cause instead of useless advice like I don't have enough free drive space. That is irrelevant.

It was censored. I didn't put them there. That is what the filter is for isn't it? Otherwise why even implement it?
Because it will catch things before a Moderator can get to it, otherwise it could be visible to everyone for hours if no one is available to edit it out. The filter doesn't hide the actual intent which was to use profanity which is not allowed even if it's caught by the censors.
I will speak as I please.
No you will not. As long as you post on this site you will comply with the rules and that includes no profanity. Also, you sarcastic remark towards Macboatmaster is inappropriate. He's only trying to help and if you have a problem with any member or their replies then kindly use the report button and a Moderator will take a look to see if any intervention is needed. Otherwise, you are to be polite and respectful at all times. :)

This right here:

is not helpful. That doesn't help me. That is not what I asked about. What is the point of him telling me that?

What I asked is why do Windows updates keep failing? It can't be because my drive space is low. That is completely and utterly useless info. If Windows had a problem with low drive space it would notify me.
And I drive just has games on it. That's not even relevant to the issue. Windows is on C drive. I don't like it when people focus on something completely different to what I asked. That is equivalent to swearing And I would report it but what's the point. Moderators wouldn't see the problem.

As for a moderator taking a look to see if any intervention is needed rarely works. I have reported people on here and on other forums for not staying on topic or other drivel and nothing is ever done about it. Not the way its supposed to be.

Here is another example of people replying with useless info:

I was asking about converting and he responds with if I can play the file. That is not what I asked. Its irrelevant and a waste of my time.
