Hi,
I am on windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
I ran cmd on safe mod with networking.
Run sfc /scannow

Widows Resources Protection could not perform the requested operation.

after that tried running Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Error: 87
The cleanup-image option is unknown.
For your information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?
The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Please help.

Hi, the dism command util in seven has always been a poor performer, it is much improved in 8. You should be able to repair the component store with the dism cmd. run the attached .zip file it will return a .bat file right click on this and select "run as administrator" when complete, restart computer.

View attachment sfc.zip

Next:-

Open a cmd as administrator go to start, search and type:- cmd right click on the returned cmd.exe and select "run as administrator" at the cmd prompt run:-

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth press enter.

Run sfc /scannow from an elevated cmd prompt (as shown above)

Hi, autoruns just reports on items set to start upon boot, many of them do not need to run, so they are not a problem, it is a record only, not a error tool. Did you try the fix in post #3. You do need to be able to run a sfc check.

Dell XPS 8500
Service Tag: CRKJ6V1
Express Service Code: 27788462461
Here is the Dell support site that's assigned only to your Dell XPS 8500 desktop.

You should add and save this site in your browser's favorites/bookmarks list so you can quickly refer to it when needed.

It shipped in July 2012 and came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

If it becomes necessary for you to obtain the recovery disc kit for that desktop, you can do it here.
