I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows XP home. Everything seems to work fine except the Monitor is jumpy when you have to roll the screen up, down or to the sides. Not to bad until I am working on line then it is really bad. I don't have drivers to install for the monitor could this be the problem? If so where can i find one? I tried the manufactor's website but it is no good. In device manager it has the yellow (?) beside video controller (VGA Compatible). So it is probably a driver issue isn't it? The monitor is 17 inch flat screen from Amptron model number A170E1-T1. It was installed on the computer when I purchased it and this is the first time the hard drive has been cleaned. Computer is about 3 years old.

Hello and welcome to TSG.

It is a driver issue, but not with the monitor, you need the driver for the video card.

I'd be happy to help you find it, but I need to know what kind of video card you have. If it's an integrated card, then knowing the type of motherboard you have will help. If you are unsure, download Belarc Advisor, and post your system profile.

I didn't even think about looking at the mother board. The computer I have was bulit its not one from a store so I had the disk for the mother board. I went to device manager put in the disk for the mother board and ran update driver. This fixed it, thank you very much. I don't need to reinstall all the drivers from the mother board disk do I, since the computer seems to be working fine now? I whipped the hard drive but do I need to even think about running set up on the mother board with the orginal disk?

Glad everything worked out for you. If windows found all the drivers except for the video (which you just installed), you should be good, if you run into any problems down the line, then you might have to install the other drivers from the disc, or download the updated ones on the motherboard site (if they have updated ones). If everything is working now, please mark this thread as solved. The button should be in the original post.
