Solved: Address Reservation - Invalid Mac Address

I am using Windows 7 in 64 bit and have connected to web with Netgear DGN2000 Modem/Router.

I am trying to set 3 Address Reservation's for 3 items on my home network. 2 will work but the 3rd and main PC has a Mac address starting with 90 (unlike others that start in 00) when trying to set I get an error saying "Invalid Mac Address".

Internet research suggests that you should save with "00" inlieu of "90" and then do a backup of settings. Then edit actaul backup file to set the real address back to "90" and then restore that file to the router.

Well I tried that and restore says that's invalid file. I then tried a backup file as a normal backup process with no edits (also no address reservation for main PC) and the same error appears. So don't know what good a backup of settings is if that does not work.

Are there any suggestions or should I just forget and deal with the ever changing internal IP addresses?

Cheers

Well, you can simply assign static IP address to the machines in question. Make sure they're outside the address range of the DHCP address pool but still in the same subnet as the router's base address.

Do I set up in Local Area Connection and set an ip outside if the DHCP IP range?

Also

Can I set just 1 PC in the network as static and have other items get ip allocated from DHCP?

In order to be really useful, you need to post the IPCONFIG /ALL results. The plain IPCONFIG leaves out a lot of stuff.

Yes, you can have one machine static and others using DHCP.

Yep

Also sent message to Netgear on Invalid Mac Address and got reply last night that they know about issue and customers in America have new Firmware to fix but are still working on firmware for rest of world. They don't know when this will come out.

So if I want to run a given IP fot this PC I assume that the only way to do in the interim is the static IP, like JW has suggested. Just don't really know much about setting up.
