Slow VLC startup

As long as I have had VLC installed, it has taken it the longest time (24 sec) to start. I have read about disabling the "scan for plugins" setting and the VideoLAN > VLC > plugins > plugins.dat file as fixes and I have done both without any change. This delayed start is only if the program has been closed for an extended period of time. If I use it repeatedly, it starts instantly after the initial startup. I have a friend who uses VLC regularly and he has never had this problem. Have others experienced this odd behavior? Is there a fix?

Nor have I. Can you please post the results of the TSG Sysinfo Utility, as requested above your initial post? It may be that you are low on system resources.

One user did this to speed VLC start time up
Go to Tools > Preferences > Show All Settings > Scroll down to "Subtitles / OSD" under video (or just search for "autodetect subtitle") in the search bar > Then uncheck "Autodetect subtitle files"
I checked my Settings under Subtitles/OSD and I have nothing like autodetect subtitle. I have enable subtitles checked. I am on v 3.0.20 Vetinari
