Is there any way to add new hardware in NT 4 workstation? I put a new 30g IDE drive in a workstation with a Adaptec SCSI card( for a scanner) and loaded NT 4, to get around the 8g limit I loaded the SP4 atapi file but that made it bypass loading the SCSI drivers. I fixed this by downloading the drivers from Adaptec and then forcing NT setup to look for both the atapi and SCSI drivers during setup but it was a real pain. Is there any way to load drivers or a card like this without going through all that trouble?

Just load NT with the SP4 Files so you can install to the IDE with more the 8gb. After it is done installing go and install the SCSI card. There is no real need to do both during the install.

To install the SCSI card goto Control Pannel and then to SCSI. It has been a while since I used NT so if you still need help past that Let me know. Also Adaptec Might have a SCSI Install Program that will do the Install for you.

That's what I did but the SCSI card wasn't listed in the SCSI area in CP, I'll have to look at Adaptec's site to see if they have an install program. I did go to their site and get the drivers which I had to load during set-up, I just thought there had to be an easier way.

I found the answer after a bit of searching at Adaptec's site, you need to install the 7800 series drivers using the SCSI area in Control Panel to use the 2920C adapter, gee why didn't I know that one? I had a driver disk but it didn't have the correct drivers on it, only drivers for the 292X series, so when I tried to use those the device wouldn't work. Well it was a learning experience for me so it wasn't a waste.
