Hi, we are trying to upgrade or sons PC Nvidia graphics card from a GTX 1650 to Zotec 3050 RTX twin oc. When I try to install the new Nvidia drivers the PC does not recognise the new GPU. When I put the old card back in, the PC detects in straight away and can install the drivers and it works fine. Spent days trying to find out what is going wrong. My son thinks that the PC cant run the new card coz PC is not good enough. The power supply is 700 w. Also the card lights up and the fans go round just the PC cant find it. Any help and Ideas please

Do you have a uefi bios or a legacy bios?
The power supply is 700 w
As long as it is a quality pw supply, that is more than enough. Minimum pw supply for that card is 550W per the nvidia spec sheet; GeForce RTX 3050 Graphics Cards | NVIDIA

Is your system a big box ie dell, hp, etc? There is no real info listed for your motherboard.

That may be a problem. Intel stopped ALL support for their boards a number of years ago ie no bios updates, no driver support, etc.
You did not answer do you have a uefi bios or a legacy bios?

These images show the performance ratings for the Intel Core i7-2600 processor and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card that are currently in that computer.

These images also show the performance rating for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card that you want to install and use.

In my opinion, the current graphics card is more than enough for the processor, and switching to the new graphics card isn't going to improve gaming quality, and is a waste of time and money.

That is a legacy bios and is most likely the problem. Nvidia cards from the 1xxx series on need a uefi bios. There are some exceptions to this and it really is hit and miss. Some card mfg include a legacy switch and or dual bios on the video card so it can work with old hardware. Sometimes the motherboard mfg will release a bios update that will allow a newer card to work with the old hardware.

If you are sure the card is installed correctly AND there are no yellow marks in device mgr, then I would conclude that the motherboard will not support your new card.

As I said, it is hit and miss; some cards yes and some cards no. This is due to the requirement for a uefi type bios AND the fact that some card mfg include a switch and or dual bios to work with old hardware.
