Norton-Update Virus definitions

I have Norton AV 2005. My Northon Anti-Virus subscription is up to date, but I keep getting word on the Norton site monthly that my virus definitions are out-of-date. When I click on Live Update there it progresses to a list of possible updates, starts to run a check and then stops and says: "Error: LU1814: Live Update could not retrieve the ujpdate list."

I have tried everything I can find to update these, beginning with:

Going to IE since Norton likes that.
Clicking on Live Update at Norton Site.
Clicking on Help there.
Checking for help on the Web.

If I go to the Symantec site I can choose technical, home or business, and then have to click on a box or Vee and when I do, nothing happens. I can't progress to a solution.

Once I was able to do this in the past following these directions:

Go to IE.
Go to www.symanec.com.techsupp/index.html
Click Home and Home Office.
Click Tech Support Live Update.
Use the auto-fix tool and follow directions.

I also tried following Symantec's "How to update virus definitin files using the Intelligent Updater: Manual Steps," but couldn't progress because when I tried to click on something, nothing happened. Can you help me update my virus definitions and/or have it happen automatically so that I can put this behind me?

Thanks.

I tried that one more than once.
Step 1 - Print this document. Did that.
Started IE.
Step 2 - Download and install LiveUpdate. "Start the download: RUN IT NOW." So I click on RUN IT NOW.

The above is a perfect example of what happens often when I click on something that is supposed to be clicked on at the Symantec site. Nothing happens.

Now what?
