Not been here for a long time, so nice ot be back at last :)
So.. the question.
Ive got a Lenovo thinkpad M14 and having problems trying ot gfet drivers installed. the manual is worse than useless, so looking to see if anyone has actually managed it.
I've downloaded the deviers (a .cat, .icm and .inf file) and for the life of me cant work out how to get things working.
If anyone has manged it, I'd bve most grateful for some guidance.

Comp spec- yes, its a home built.

For Lenovo, you can download and install the Lenovo System Update utility. When you run it, it should provide a list of drivers available and the means to download/install them.

tried that, its not recognised. Connected on th esupplied USB-C cable (c type to c type), the monitor turns on but goes straight to standby, and isnt recognised anywhere in windows. I did try ther utility, and get stuck as it just asks for hardware to be installed.

I did a lot of looking, and th ebest I can find is that some C-C cables work, others dont, and a bit more digging showed a fair few peoiple have supplied cables that dont seem to support. Next step I guess is to get a cable that fully suports, and see fi that works.

Unzip the files. Right click on the zip folder and left click on Extract all.
right click on the inf file and left click on install.
If that does not work.
Right click on Windows start
Left click on Device Manager
Left click on the arrow next to Monitor to expand
Right Click on the M14 monitor
Left click on update driver
Left Click on Browse my computer and point to the driver folder in the extracted folder

Thanks for that reply, but its really just a cut n paste from the manual.
The monitor doesnt show up in device manager at all, so there is nothing to update. I've tried th elong way (manual install changing feneric monitor to thinkvision) and it still doesnt recognise anything, eith in windows or th elenovo utility.
As above it seems the cable may be the issue, so I'll resort to buying one and see fi that gets me anywhere :)

Going ot mark this solved as I think we've gotten there.
The instructions and web site tell you to use th eUSB-c cable supplied. A bit of leg work showed that this cable didnt work fo ra lot of people.
A bit of thinking led me to the conclusion that a USB c isnt carrying a signal for video, so I ordered a new cable thats dispaly port to USB-c. Spoke to a mate in IT who works fo ra company that use the same pad, and he confirmed that is usually the case.
A bit frustrating as Lenovo make no mentio nat all of whats needed, but should be getting th ecable in a few hours and hopefulyl that will get me up and running.

When you are satisfied that the problem has been resolved ..

How to mark a thread solved.

Above your first post in this thread, but below the black bar, on the right-hand side, you will see a "kebab" menu (three vertical dots). Click that and select Edit Thread. Click where it says "No prefix". "Solved" should be one of your options.

Real simple, huh? Who needs a dedicated button that does this in a single mouse click? ;-)
