Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out for assistance after my Telegram account was hacked. I woke up recently to find that I had been logged out, and the registered email associated with my account was changed without my consent. I also received a suspicious email in Russian, indicating that my account may have been accessed from a different region.

When I tried to recover my account using SMS verification, I was prompted to upgrade to Premium, which has made the recovery process extremely frustrating. I’ve tried contacting Telegram support through various channels, including email and in-app support, but I have not received any help.

I have significant funds tied to my account, and I’m desperate to regain access before I lose everything. If anyone has any advice on what I can do next or has experienced a similar issue, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thank you!

1.

How long ago did you contact them AND by which email addresses
Email Telegram stating your hacked situation and explaining what happened prior to the hacking incident.

You can send it to either of these three (3) email addresses (or include all of them in the email cc list);

2. I presume you have changed your email password
and also of course checked you Telegram shown activity
as on this link HOWEVER I do NOT recommend you use any click here on the link do it via your telegram access
7 Things to Do When Telegram Got Hacked [Account Recovery] – TickTechTold

3. I hope you have not used the same password for your telegram account, as for your email
OR INDEED the same password on anything

4. What device is used for Telegram

Scan that device with a AV - antivirus app
Thank you for your guidance and assistance. Here are my responses to each of your points:
  1. Contact Details and Timeline:
  2. Account Security Measures Taken:
    • I have changed my email password to a strong, unique one and reviewed the activity log on my Telegram account, confirming unauthorized access from a Russian IP address.
    • After purchasing Telegram Premium, I attempted to terminate all active sessions. However, the sessions in Russia remained, and Telegram did not remove them. Despite enabling Two-Step Verification, the hacker regained control of my account just a few hours later. As a result, I have lost access to my Premium account and all the apps associated with my cell number.
  3. Password Management:
    • I use unique passwords for each account, including my Telegram and email accounts. There are no shared passwords across different services.
  4. Device and Antivirus Scan:
    • I access Telegram on both my phone and desktop PC. I ran full antivirus scans on both devices, and no issues were found. I have also reviewed my privacy settings and made them as secure as possible.
This situation is particularly concerning as I have over $1000 tied to my Telegram account, and despite taking all these precautions, the hacker continues to regain control. If you have any additional tips or escalation contacts that could expedite the resolution, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you again for your assistance.

What a poor level of support from Telegram
Am I correct in saying you are in South Africa

On your desktop computer run this

3. Run AdwCleaner (scan only)

Download AdwCleaner and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click AdwCleaner.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan Now button.
  • Once the scan completes, AdwCleaner shows you all detected PUPs and adware. DO NOT check anything found, and click Next.
  • If any preinstalled software was detected on your device, a message notifies you that your action is requested. DO NOT check anything, and click Cancel to continue.
  • Click the Log Files tab.
  • Double click on the latest scan log (Scan logs have a [S0*] suffix, where * is replaced by a number, the latest scan will have the largest number)
  • A Notepad file will open containing the results of the removal.
  • Please copy and then paste the the contents of the file in your next reply.
Note: Click Skip Basic Repair if you are asked to.
Thanks again for your efforts. Yes, I’m based in South Africa, and I have to say, Telegram support has been appalling. It’s been over a week since my account was hacked, and I’ve received absolutely no response. I’m not even sure Telegram has real support at this point. I’ve tried every channel available to reach them and provided all the evidence, including the Ukrainian mobile number the hacker used to claim my account , yet I haven’t received even an automated acknowledgment.
To make matters worse, this was a Premium account. I paid for a service, so you’d think that would at least entitle me to some support or even a basic response. I’ve run AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes, but nothing came up, so it seems the only real solution is to actually get help from Telegram. It’s incredibly frustrating to feel completely ignored, especially with a paid account and over $1,000 tied up in it.
