I can sign on to the remote desktop on my laptop
Is this a work laptop connecting to a work computer?
What Mac?
A mac address not a mac computer.
From Here explains about Mac address.
A MAC (Media Access Control) address, sometimes referred to as a hardware or physical address, is a unique, 12-character alphanumeric attribute that is used to identify individual electronic devices on a network. An example of a MAC address is: 00-B0-D0-63-C2-26
Companies normally use this to stop noncompany computers from accessing the network

This is a personal PC connecting to a work computer. I can sign onto the work computer with my laptop but this PC is getting that error so it is something with MY PC that is not allowing me to sign on to the work computer.

The idea is to see if it could be a windows 11 update that has caused the problem
On the laptop click on search type in command press enter.
You should get a black and white screen
At the command prompt type in or copy and paste
ipconfig /all
This should give you a list. you are looking for the IPv4 Address
It should look like 192.168.011 or 10.0.0.11 (numbers are an example only.)
When you have the ip address go to the windows 7 desktop and start Remote desktop
Put in the ip address of the laptop
Can you connect?
If in doubt about what I have written Ask

Given the back & forth here, I really think you should contact your work's IT department to resolve this issue. It doesn't seem as if we're getting anywhere here, and they are the ones who will know the configuration they allow for RDP.

On their part there’s nothing to resolve because I can get on with my laptop and one of the other computers we have in my home but my main computer is the Windows 7 so it’s my computer that’s the issue which I need fixed.

Do they - your employer`s IT dept know that you are trying to remote in from a Windows 7 OS computer
They are in fact wrong, to say there is nothing to resolve, IF they are authorisng you to use a Windows 7 OS to remote in to the works computer.

As I explained in my post 16 to which you have never even commented - on a windows 7 computer trying to remote in to windows 11 using remote desktop, must have the remote permission ON the Windows 11 computer - the works computer NOT SET for Network Authentification

I think you need to check the settings for RDP on the windows 11 computer
If the Windows 11 computer does have the check on the - only allow etc RDP with Network level authentication - checked then that may be the problem
If the Network Level Authentication option is enabled, the older versions of remote desktop clients can’t be used to connect the latest Windows Operating Systems.
It is quite possible that as you could use the windows 7 computer before, that an update to 11 on the works computer
OR indeed the IT dept have set remote for network authentification.

Whether that is the problem or NOT, I do not know, but one thing is certain - until you have that checked this thread is unlikely to progress.

I Hope, that if they are authorising you to remote in using windows7, you can get it sorted.
If I was the IT for the company I would not allow it, in view of the fact that the work computer to which you are trying to connect using remote desktop is, from the way I read the thread Windows 11.

However that is only my opinion.

As I said I hope you get it sorted.
I have no further suggestions to offer.

So I did find out that they only allow Windows 10 and up.
