I guess Im learning something about XP. We're getting the Trojan Message from AVG, and I would like to post the exact message here. But I can't find the clipboard ( maybe I don't need it?) Does XP have a clipboard? If it does, how do I find it and install it. Thanks a million for any assistance.

Nope. Still comes up. But I seem to remember a message from Spybot on my 98se that said AVG might find files that it would identify as viruses but that they wouldn't be viruses; rather it had something to do with Spybot. Could that be possible? Or, I guess I should continue hunting?
Thanks for all the good info. I put the TSD on all the computers and I put the Trojan Remover on them too. :D Thanks again. And have a nice night.

This is what I got (in a jumbled fashion) from TDS--the Trojan Scan remover--but Im not really sure of what to do, or rather what to delete.I did the Print Screen and was able to get the AVG message, and then I did the Print Screen on TDS, but I don't know how to post that as it is. Anyway, that said, here it is

Virus Trojan Horse Dialer
is found in file
C:\System Volume
Information\_restore{DBB9D204-E26D-4EC1-B55A-100313E36E6C}\RP21
7\A0517539.exe

To remove this virus, please run AVG for Windows

This is what TDS, the Trojan Scanner posted among other things. I'd like to post the entire post, but I don't know how to get it off or out of paint into or onto the Techguy board.

Under alarm it reads:

RegVal Trace: RAT. Winet HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Positive identification <Adv> Possible WebDownloader
" " "
" " "
" " "
Positive identification Destruct.Wincrash 1.0 (Flipscreen Util)
Positive identification Demo.Leaktest 1.1 (Not a Trojan)
Positive identification (DLL) Spyware.RapidBlaster 1.08 Installer (dll)

At the end of each of these lines is Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run [wininetd ...

c:\documents and settings\Luke1\local settings\temporary i...
ditto for 3 more lines and then
" " \Luke1Luke\desktop\badday.exe

" " \Luke1Luke\desktop\utilit...
c:\windows\downloaded program files\activeinstaller.dll
this message board. I copied the "alarm" messages here--in a jumblwed fashion. If they don't make sense, I'll recopy them (but there must be some more efficient way of copying the print screen to this board.)
Obviously I have not learned that trick; but the lines would have been continuous if I had not had word wrap running. I learned a little too late, right at the very end. Thanks for allthe help. It is appreciated, believe me.

Hey Motherboard! Im in the process of running TDS on the XP. It's picked up 3 "alarms" and is still scanning. I'll post again when its complete.

Thank you Bvr! I'll try to pull that up. Muy Pronto. Thanks.

If you want the clipboard handy so that you can view it, navigate to] C:\WINDOWS\system32\clipbrd.exe. Once you find that tile, create a shortcut to the programs folder (or where ever you want it)!

Hi Motherboard,

You;ve come to my rescue again. Thanks. My son had used Kazaa too, so it was a treat to clear up those extra files for him. But AVG is still coming up with this Trojan message. I'll see if I can print screen it on to the next post. Im on my 98 now. Thanks again.

But no clipboard? The error messages aren't subject to being highlighted and copied, so how does one copy an error message? Especially one that can't be highlighted? In 98 I use print screen to start it; but then I go to clip board.

In Search, I typed in ClipBoard, and I got 4 entries that were text files, but the Clip Board.

Im not familiar with Xp. In 98se and in 95 there's an app called clipboard that I can click to see what I've copied. When I press print screen and I click clip board, whatever was on my screen is on the clip board. If it's a graphic, and I can paste it in paint, and then copy it to Notepad, and then highlight it and paste it in a post like this one. Is that possible to do in XP? Is there a clipboard, an app that will show me whatever Ive copied?

How do I get it operational. We got rid of the virus BTW. AVG had it in its vault. But now, how do I get the clipboard to come up?
