I have a Lenovo Flex 5 two-in-one laptop, and recently just made a very stupid mistake: I closed the lid on the charger, causing a small crack in the glass. The crack isn't on the LCD screen itself. It's on the black space below the screen, and it's rather small. A few pieces of glass have fallen out. Normally, I would not care, but I've noticed that my touch-screen is no longer responding to my touch. Is this a normal problem with broken glass on touchscreens? Is there something I can do to fix this? I appreciate any advice you can give, even if it's just "you're out of luck".

The touch screen uses transparent electrodes over the active pixel area that extend to the edges of the glass. Any cracks would sever the electrodes and cause the touch screen to malfunction.
If the touch screen is an overlay on top of the LCD panel, you can get just the touchpanel replaced. If it is built-into the LCD panel, then the entire LCD panel and touch panel assembly would need to be replaced. An on-line search for a replacement screen for your particular model number of Lenovo should show you if you can just replace the touch panel portion.
