Lenovo DESKTOP-UF1NPB7 windows 10

Windows 10 is not opening up. "Preparing Windows" . When it completes the cycle it says We Can't sign you in your account. Gives me 2 choices - sign out or close. If I sign out we go back into Preparing Windows mode. If I "close" it looks like photo 2. And in this mode I have no icons including the 'Windows Start".

Thanks Allan!

Has this been working? Did you recently "upgrade" to Win11? Were you using a local account, or a Microsoft account?

I am not 100% convinced although it certainly appears to be so, albeit the message did not especially mention temp profile
I known you asked and I repeated that on post 9.
My guess is that jayeliot missed your question thinking it was to Allan

simply reading
Thanks Allan.

That said the fix I offered deals with both issues as you can see, and is clearly indicated
This tutorial will show you how to fix the "We can't sign into your account" and "You've been signed in with a temporary profile" error for a user account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10 | Tutorials (tenforums.com)

EXAMPLE: "We can't sign in to your account" and "You've been signed in with a temporary profile" notifications
but
jayeliot misread it
Your next suggestion refers to Windows 10 You've been signed in with a temporary profile. I have windows 11 and did not get the temporary profile message.
I am wondering if by chance he has failed to notce which account he is signing into.

i AM PLEASED YOU CAME in, MAY I leave it with you for tonight

There is for some reason a problem loading your user profile
The message on your image 1 - means that if you close and them have the desktop in image 2
you are in a temporary user account - hence the warning that any files you create etc will be lost when you shut down

Obviously I cannot know at this stage what has caused this but a very reasonable culprit is SAS - SuperAntiSpyware and/or Kaspersky

OR it may be a case of a corrupted user profile due to file errors etc - caused by some action you have taken in windows - could be shutting down in the updating process - disk errors etc.

I CANNOT stress to you enough the importance of ensuring that you HAVE a back up of any important personal data, before you start as below.
Your user data should still be there on
Check at C:\Users if you can see your old account with its files intact. If not check at C:\Windows.old to see if files were archived there during a version install that fails.

If so copy the files out externally so they are safe. Files should always be backed up if you value them at all. You can copy or drag them to an external USB flash or hard drive.
==============================================
NOTE
IF YOU HAVE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT prior to this problem and unless you have turned on restore points it is unlikely you wil have - then you could if you wish try a system restore.
DO THIS ONLY AFTER TRYING STARTUP REPAIR etc.

To do this boot to advanced options using option 5
(14) Boot to Advanced Startup (WinRE) in Windows 11 Tutorial | Windows 11 Forum (elevenforum.com)

then click troubleshoot
advanced options
startup repair

IF that is not successul
go back to the screen with startup repair but this time choose
Startup settings
then
SAFE MODE
see if you can log in as normal with Safe Mode

IF you can - and have your usual desktop and files
you may just find when you then restart that all may be OK

If that does not work then try if you have one a restore point.
That is back on the screen of advanced - where you had startup repair.

IF NONE of those work you are then going to have to try
The answer to how to fix the temp profile problem is here

Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10 | Tutorials (tenforums.com)
I STRONGLY recommend you read it VERY CAREFULLY and do not proceed without a back up of your personal data

Try POINT 1 FIRST note the RESTART not the shutdown
Restart the computer 4 times, each time letting your PC get to the Desktop before the next restart. This will often fix this issue a lot of the time. If not, then continue on to step 2.
See sublink in quote above for how to restart.

If that DOES NOT work try option2 here

I did this and they could not fix
then click troubleshoot
advanced options
startup repair

I did this next and that did not help

IF that is not successul
go back to the screen with startup repair but this time choose
Startup settings
then
SAFE MODE
see if you can log in as normal with Safe Mode

IF you can - and have your usual desktop and files
you may just find when you then restart that all may be OK

I did a restore point but that failed : failed to extract the file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeCore\99.0.1150.55\libGLESv2.dll) from restore point. An unspecified error occurred during System Restore (0x80071160

If that does not work then try if you have one a restore point.

Your next suggestion refers to Windows 10 You've been signed in with a temporary profile. I have windows 11 and did not get the temporary profile message.
It refers to BOTH 10 and 11 as you will see when you open the link
and it refers to the message you have as well as the other message

Please read post 2 and 3

However you are correct in asking this
Did you just update from windows 10 to 11 before this happen?
as that question was asked in post 5
Has this been working? Did you recently "upgrade" to Win11? Were you using a local account, or a Microsoft account?
and I have now realised it has not been answered

jayeliot

You seem to be having a similar problem to what you had in 2020

(65) Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart | Tech Support Guy (techguy.org)
on what I think is the same Lewnovo

As was said there it appeared it was a shutdown interrupting an update and indeed I mentioned the same possibility on this thread

OR it may be a case of a corrupted user profile due to file errors etc - caused by some action you have taken in windows - could be shutting down in the updating process

Press the WIN + E key
what happens please
presuming it opens This PC
click the win dows 11 icon and then users
what is shoiwn please
If you find YOUR users folder
copy the details from there BUT NOT to the temp profile

#13 ·
Malcolm, I'm not convinced this is a temp profile issue. I'd still like to see answers to the questions I posed earlier ...

#17 ·
So, this was working as a Win11 system with a Microsoft account and it is not a password issue.

It may be that one or more of the system files got corrupted. Do you have, or can you create, the Microsoft Media Creation Tool flashdrive? If so, boot to USB with that in and when prompted, select Repair computer. If the Automatic Repair does not work, go to the Command Prompt and try running sfc /scannow and then DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (note the spaces) and see if either helps.

Command prompt suggestions...
from x:\windows\system32> The sfc\scannow resulted in "windows resource protection cannot perform the requested operation . Also from the same command line > Error 50 - DISM does not support service windows PE with the online operation. Should I be at a different command line ?

It will fail because those cmds cannot be used in that form in the recovery environment cmd prompt
which is an X prompt, a temp drive created in ram.

I have left you with my colleague Mark who will try and see if he can sort it out.

Do NOT run RESTORO from the link Mark gave you.

As a mater of interest I asked - could you press Win + E and see your data in the users folder, but you never replied to it

I also asked in post 6 could you see your user data

Good luck I hope you get it sorted

OK. Let's regroup for a minute ...

Can you still boot to the desktop that has no taskbar? If so, can you press the Windows key and E simultaneously and get Windows Explorer? Or Windows + R and get the Run box?

#22 ·
OK, that's a good thing!

First thing you should do is make a copy of all your data that is not currently backed up! As long as you can get to Windows Explorer, you should be able to copy it off to an external drive, even a USB flashdrive, though I wouldn't trust those with important data as an only source.

Next, apparently the missing taskbar is a known issue with Win11. Check this link:

I'm sorry, no, do not download the Restoro tool. I had intended the rest of the instructions, but forgot to warn you to ignore the tool.

On another PC, see if you can log in using your credentials you use for signing onto this PC to:
Sign in to your Microsoft account -- That would confirm your username/password are correct to get around the message you are getting.
