Administrator log on problem

Dell Inspiron 1300, XP SP2

For a year this laptop booted up without prompting me to log on. Recently it started asking me to log on. Since there's no password, I just hit [Enter]. In the last few days, instead of showing my user name, it shows "Administrator," and when I hit [Enter], it says, "Unable to log you on because of a security restriction."

I checked the Setup and there's no password set for Administrator.

Now I have to change "Administrator" to my user name, then hit [Enter] to log on.

How do I make all this nonsense go away? I'm the only user and don't want to have to log on.

Thanks.

Welcome to TSG....

Go to user accounts in control panel and then change the way users log in save and exit and reboot you should be all set.

Thanks, but I tried it and it made things worse. I turned on the "Welcome screen" option and rebooted. The "administrator-security restriction" box still came up, followed by the log-on screen where I had to click my user name. That's one more step than before. I'm trying to get rid of all log-on prompts, as the computer was for a year.

In addition, Windows keeps creating new user accounts. Now there's a "guest" account, and an ASP.NET account which I deleted and sprang back to life. None of these accounts was there before.

And Microsoft wonders why everyone hates them...
