Acronis scheduled job missing but still running.

Windows XP
Acronis True Image 9 Home
I scheduled a backup job but didn't include the login info for the computer. Now the job runs on schedule but fails because it can't log into the computer. I would like to delete this job and start over, but it doesn't show up in the scheduled job list. Since the scheduler is trying to run it, I assume that it is listed somewhere. Where does the scheduler keep the job info and how can I delete it?

Not sure about ATI 9, but in ATI 11 you click Tools | Management | Manage Tasks
Select the Task and choose Change Task Schedule.
Go through each screen and you'll be able to enter the credentials.

Should be similar, if not the same. Or try searching the User Guide for Scheduled Task, see if it shows how to access tasks.

You can still delete the job in Scheduled Tasks. It will appear in the list if you run Autoruns. Or go right to the Windows\Tasks folder.

Tracked down a trial version of ATI v9.
The task should appear in the task list on the Main page when you run Acronis. Just highlight it and click Edit or Delete, as in the screenshot below.
If it doesn't appear, it could be your installation had gotten corrupted.
You should also have a few more options on the Tools menu as well, so you may want to uninstall and re-install.

Acronis doesn't use the Windows Task Scheduler, so Autoruns won't be any help here.

You can also manually delete the task. The tasks are stored in this folder:
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImage\Scripts
The name is a long random string of hexadecimal numbers, with a tis extension, something like this:
788CF4F6-C7C1-46E9-80F3-678F2FEF943B.tib.tis

Just delete that file (yours will have a different name) to remove the task. If you have multiple tasks scheduled, you can open the files in Notepad and look for the task name or description. These are actually XML files, which are text files.

I did a search of my entire computer for filenames containing .tib or .tis and only got backup files. There were none with any configuration of random numbers.

Also, the job does not show up anywhere in Acronis. This is what the Scheduled Tasks page looks like

Any thoughts on uninstalling and reinstalling Acronis?

What version of Acronis do you have? Your screen shot is not Version 9. Looks more like Version 2009
Click the down arrow to the right of the question mark in the upper right corner, then click About. What is the version number and the Build number?

Did you check the Unscheduled task tab? It may be retrying a failed task that isn't scheduled.
What does the log say about the task?

When you searched, did you check the options to Search system folders and Search hidden files and folders? (Under More Advanced Options) Though ATI 2009 might be completely different in how it schedules tasks.

OOps. Yes. It is 2009. I was at work when I first posted and was working from memory. Build is 9,796. Yes, I did have hidden folders, system folders and subfolders checkboxes checked. After my last post, I ran a backup and a validation. Before that, the Unscheduled Tasks tab was also blank. The log shows the failed job and nothing else since I deleted all scheduled jobs about a week ago. Right now, the only thing running is the missing scheduled job.

Click On Tools | Options
Expand Task Options and click on Filter
Uncheck Show only tasks created by a current user
Click OK

See if the task is visible now.

If not, I'd browse to the task folder and see what is there. It's possible that search might not find some files.
ATI 2009 stores it tasks in pretty much the same location as ATI 9:
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts
Application Data is a Hidden folder so you'll need to set your system to show hidden files and folders:
Change View Settings to make sure hidden and system files are visible:

  • In Windows Explorer, click on Tools | Folder Options -> View Tab
  • Check the following:
  • Display the contents of system folders (not present in Win2K/Vista)
  • Show hidden files and folders
  • Uncheck the following:
  • Hide extensions for known file types (WinXP/Vista)
  • Hide file extensions for known file types (Win2K)
  • Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
Next, I'd try Moper's suggestion of updating the scheduler, see if that will help.

If still not showing up, I'd remove ATI 2009 using Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, then download and run the Acronis Clean Up Utility, then re-install.

OK. Did the Tools|Folder Options thing and found three files of the type described previously. However, they are all from tasks I ran today - one backup and two verifications. I'll try the scheduler thing.

Maybe this will help, updating the scheduler:http://kb.acronis.com/content/1518

This led to the solution. I followed this link and then followed another from that. It listed four files of the type described (random numbers) I deleted all of them (I assumed they included the three jobs I ran yesterday). That fixed the problem. (Just posting now because I had to wait 'til 3:00 AM to see if the job tried to run again.

Thanks for all the help guys.
