Zip files as folders

How can I disable this? I want them to be just files, not folders.

ummmm.....they are files. They do have the .zip file extension don't they?

yes they do but the show up different than they did in Win98/ME. they seem to be there own foler as well as a file.

Sounds like they are associated with windows "compressed folders" instead of a particular zip program. Right click on one of the "folders"->properties, find "opens with..." click change and choose the preferred program.
