Before I rip the box open, thought I'd ask:

I have a Gateway PIII, 1.0 CPU, 512 RAM, a 40 GB C:, 20 GB D:, 48X CDROM, Plextor 16x40x10 CDRW, floppy....

Sine my IDE cables are used up on the two HDDs and the two CDs, can I install a 250 MB ZIP drive?

I guess the Q is, does a ZIP drive run from a floppy cable...I think I have a free connection on that ribbon.

Usually Zip drives run on the IDE ports.
Some may run from the parallel port also. What does it say on the box? It should list the interface there. If it says IDE you can't install it on the floppy cable.

If you have 2HDDs and 2 CDroms you are probably out of luck if you purchased an internal ZIP drive. You could return it and spend another $20 or so and get an external parallel port ZIp drive that would run off your printer port...normally they should have cables that still allow you to connect a printer.

I would ask at the store though to be sure
