I have Norton Internet security 2004 and norton antivirus2003
installed/enabled on my comp.I have run trojan remover too.

Pooja,

Welcome to TSG

Some things to run through :-

1)Repair IE - Go Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs - click on Internet Explorer as if you wanted to delete it and it should give you the option to Repair it.

2)Run a scan for Spyware on your computer - go here :

http://security.kolla.de/

Download and install Spybot Search & Destroy.
Run Spybot > click Online > click Search For Updates > get all Updates > close all IE / Browser Windows > in Spybot click Search For Problems > once the search routine is complete > click Fix All Checked.

After the above you might also consider testing your Ram - if you have more than one stick - remove one at a time and boot the PC with a single stick each time - and see if any errors still occur.

Try the above as well as any other suggestions you get - and post back with how you get on.

Hi,
I really appreciate your reply.
I have disabled NAV but still nothing worked for me.
I have gone to many kernel32.dll sites but I have no idea what to do there as i am not a comp. expert like you guys.
Also,I dont wanna dwnld any thing which is of no use but occupies space in hard drive .I hope you are getting my problem.

Please provide me with some concrete solution so that I can have the access to my yahoo mail a/c/

Thanks,

Pooja

Thanks for ur reply,
In windows ME ,I understand that there is no option to repair the IE,it either uninstall or takes you to the previous version.I have IE6.0 with service pack1. I will run the spybot and shall update you with the changes ,if any.

Thanks,

Pooja

Hi,
As per ur advise,I ran Trojan remover but problem remains as it is.

I can use yahoo msgr. and hotmail but cannot only access yahoo mail. Also, till the time I am using hotmail a/c ,everything is normal but when i go to close the hotmail a/c,the message comes again---
EXPLORER HAS CAUSED ERROR IN KERNELL32.DLL. EXPLORER WILL NOW CLOSE.

OR

EXPLORER HAS CAUSED ERROR IN <UNKNOWN>. EXPLORER WILL NOW CLOSE.

Presently, I have the Norton antivirus2003 and Norton Internet secuirty installed on my windows ME.

Is there any real good expert on computers who really knows the problem, instead of trying experiments on my comp.--- coz am already scared that --with experiments--comp. will go more crazyyy.

I appreciate ur genius help.

Pooja

Not quite sure where you got this little jewel but repair IS a valid option for IE6 in WinME or My ME setup will be quite suprised to learn that the times I ran repair IE were not real ;) .
Are you accessing repair through the Add/Remove applett in Control Panel( MSinternet Explorer6 and internet tool) first screen SHOULD give you 3 options.... 1) add component 2) Repair 3) Previous version or uninstall)?? If it really isn't an option then you DO have a bad install of IE and should download/re-install from scratch.

Hi Jack,
Let me now update you with this ------

I went to control panel

clicked on add/remove prog.

select "InternetExplorerQ824145"

"Add/remove" and " Install" keys are displayed

I click "add/remove"

Now "Uninstall" and "restore to prev. version" keys are displayed

no "repair" key there????????????????????

whats is this Q824145 written in front of IE???????

what do u experts now suggest coz' am having faith in ur expertise

Thanks,

Pooja

#10 ·
NO no no ..you just removed a Internet explorer update..In Control Panel go to Add/remove> scoll down and find "Microsoft Internet Explorer sp1 and Internet tools"..THAT is what you "remove" to get the repair option...When m you have repaired IE go to Windows update to replace the update you just removed

#11 ·
I'm with pooja, all i got is IEQ824.... in my add/remove listings for anything related to IE. I use to wonder about that but have had no problems with IE yet

whats up with that?

Paublo Are you using IE6 or still 5.5??? I don't remember if IE 5 was listed in Add/Rem or not my daughters machine is down right now or I could check..What version of Windows??If Win98 there is also a repair for IE in Start>Run>type "msinfo32">Tools>Repair IE..that from memory but I'm pretty confident it is the correct path..
One more question are you running a "straight" MS version of IE not one from earthlink, AOL, Comcast etc etc??

#14 ·
its listed as Version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633ic and has a few updates and is listed as a customized version

i would put up a screen shot but i haven't figured that out yet(lol)

#15 ·
OK I'm a moron!! For some reason I was under the notions that you had Win98SE..Have no idea where I got that idea from but, sorry..In XP it's a whole different ballgame...Kelly Theriot has one of the most complete XP site going today...IMHO, Kelly's Korner XP
and IE specific is HERE
Sorry for the confusion

#16 ·
Thx JW i will check it out but i kinda butted in on pooja to ask that question(sry pooja) and i beleive he has ME as an os i'll let you get back to him

sry again and Thx

pooja
I just ran across an interesting factiod on one of the microsoft NG...to wit.. If you DO"NT have MS IE and tools listed in Add/Remove..like described earler removing the Update we talked about earlier will restore it to Add/Remove.....Go figure, though i'd pass it on.
Let us know

#18 ·
Hi Jack,
I checked up the add/remove prog. in my Windows ME but no "repair" key is there. All what I have is IEQ824145 --- Is Yahoo mail downloaded or we just use Yahoo mail on yahoo.com!!!!!!!!!

Can i have the access to yahoo mail soon?????????????

Thanks,

Pooja

#19 ·
Maybe I didn't make it clear in my last post...If you uninstall Q824145 then, and only then ; you should get your MS IE6 back in the Add/Remove applet. This is a recent development related to a update and I personaly have no first hand knowledge of the success rate in getting MSIE back in add/remove;just passing along info from other sources.
If you don't want to go that route you can still run repair by cutting and pasting the following line into Start>Run

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

Please copy and paste that instead of trying to type it as it is case/space sensitive. It also assume default locations for IE

More on IE repair here Description of the Internet Explorer Repair Tool

#20 ·
Hi Jack,
I cut paste the command (you gave me) on the RUN and it asked if i want to repair. I clicked OK

After sometime it asked to restart the windows.

I went to Yahoo and tried to entered my id and pwd---

This messg. appears----

EXPLORER HAS CAUSED AN ERROR IN KERNEL32.DLL. EXPLORER WILL NOW CLOSED

Also, still the add remove prog. shows IE as IEQ824145

Now when i RUN and restore the IE to previous version, nothing happens and the add remove prog. still shows IEQ824145

Please advise,

Pooja

Hi
Looking at your problem it reminds me of a similar situation that happened to me a while ago. I was using Win98SE. Someone queried when this problem started - the answer sometimes helps. Further, it appears your problem is occuring randomly - with Yahoo and while closing your hotmail account. How much RAM are you using? - you can check this by Start/Control panel/System

My problem was using an antique Pcchips Motherboard - M571 actually and the problem was solved only when i replaced my RAM. Are you getting anyother Blue screen warnings? Like Fatal Exception fault errors while using your web browser?

I had this same exact problem...see my post 11/02 in ME forum..they had me run a hijackthis scan then told me what to close and I haven't had a problem since.....

Hi,
I ran "hijack this" right now and got this log file. Please advise what my next step should be.

Thanks,

Pooja
