I decided to do a clean install of XP with SP2 included on the same disc. I had done this before but sometime ago. The Install appears to run fine but after all the files are copied to the hard drive and then the system reboots it hangs displaying the XP logo with the blue activity bars going from left to right. I've removed all boards and even bought a new copy as there is a small scratch on it. I get the same result with the new disc. I borrowed a copy of XP with SP1 and it installs fine. I assume this proves the hardware is all ok. But, since this is not my copy I can't leave it that way and would prefer to use what I bought anyway. Any ideas why the XP w/SP2 won't install?

Does your keycode work with the friends XP cd? if so then install it and just visit Microsoft updates to get SP2, possible your cd is damaged and is why you cannot get it to install.

I didn't try the key code. I didn't think that was legit.
But, I found that I had to back rev the BIOS due to a bug in later versions that didn't like Service pack 2. Go figure.
