Recently i purchased 3 laptops with pre installed XP Pro. I have a client/server setup. Logging in 2 laptops is ok, but the 3rd one takes a long time to login. I have to wait for 25-30 seconds to login after i enter the password.

Here are a few things to do. I have a Windows 2000 server running Windows XP Pro clients and had the same issue.

1. Make sure that you have enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP in your network properties.

2. ((BIG ONE)) point your XP computers to use your Windows 2000 server as your PRIMARY DNS server. On your Win2k server, setup your DNS server to forward to your working DNS servers. This is what actually FIXED my problems entirely. :up:
