I don't know if I can ask this as it's not an error or anything.

Just installed XP and have different uses set up for kids. Can I take icons off their account without deleting them from my desktop? How? I tried thru explorer but can't see any settings there. I tried thru their desktop, but now they are gone from mine also.

They are very young and I'd like to limit their frustration at accidently opening other programs. But I really like my shortcuts!!!

Set them up with their own "user accounts" then they will only have their own desktop to look at.

They each have their own user account. They have to click on their own icon to log onto their desktop. Is that what you mean?

Yes, their desktops can be totally different from yours.
