XP Firewall

When trying to turn on XP Firewall I get an error message: "depency or service group failed to start."

I have run msconfig and checked all the settings and they appear to be set correctly, but there is a reason I cannot figure that will not allow the firewall to be engaged.

I do not have a router or any device that would act as a firewall. Am using Norton Anti-Virus and am not using a fire wall program., etc.

Will appreciate help.

You have something disabled in Services that is required by the XP firewall. I recommend you look through Control Panel/ Admin/ Services to see if anything is disabled. If you're not familiar with the services go to www.blackviper.com and check out his services area. It's good.
