My XP laptop recently had a bad crash (It usually hangs at the shut down screen, so normally I pound down on the power button at that point)- When I now log in, it directs me to a new clean desktop (all my settings blown out) with firefox and a couple of other icons... Basically, I lost my user account. However, in explorer, my past user account is stilll there (James). Under it, there a new account (James.WICKED - which i didn't create) It seems to be logging me under that account... When I restart windows, only the "James" account is there, and I can log in fine to that with my old account password (you would think it would load my old profile)... So basically, my old account is still there, but the data it loads for my account is new stuff. I can still access my docs and so forth via explorer, but it is missing from my desktop... Is there a way I can resolve this?
