I recently bought a Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter (for a cool $129.99C:( ) to work alongside my D-Link WBR-1310 wireless router. At first it seemed to work the moment I plugged the adapter into my 360. The light turned green and it allowed me to connect to Xbox Live. But I soon noticed that any activity done online was extremely slow.

I checked the network settings and it showed that I only had 1 bar of reception. My wireless router program "Network Magic" detects the 360 when it is on and allows its connection. I decided to connect my 360 to the router via ethernet cable (which is an impossible permenant set-up) and the result was fantastic....large downloads worked and everything worked about 1000 times more quickly.

I tried testing the wireless connection in the same room about 7 feet from the router with the same, slow crappiness as before (I'm so eloquent, aren't I:rolleyes: ). I configured all the settings and security........I think. Do I just need a new router (which I'm willing to buy) or are there some settings I don't know about? I need help:eek:

Well, the same thing happened with my 360. A huge overlook for Microsoft was the fact that they made the adapter to clip on the back of the 360, thus worse reception. I went out and bought a $25 USB extender and it's now at 3 bars, up from 1.

Well I tried the USB extender and lo and behold...it works! Not as well as a wired connection mind you, but it works nonetheless. Thanks a lot dungeonguard!
