I have just built a laptop using a ghost image now everytime I open word its as if its the first time it has been opened - running the Windows Installer - Preparing to Instal screen........

I have used this same ghost image on a number of laptops all exactly the same spec and had no trouble.

I know the simple solution would be to just rebuild the laptop but I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

I have run a detect and repair from word - no joy.

I have recreated the reg keys for word in both user and local machine - no joy.

any ideas would be helpful...........

I ran into this too. I believe that version of Word has some 'install on demand' features. Go through the installer again and check that each feature is marked to install, not install on demand.

Why not just reinstall Word or Office (depending on what you have). You can also copy the source files to a directory on the hard drive first and install from that directory.
