Link Quality and Signal Strength are both above 60% all the time.

But it wont acquire an ip address.
Im using a Netgear MA111 usb adapter.

I had it working two weeks ago, suddenly its giving me trouble.
Please help, he just opened his present and really wants to play Dark Age :(

hello jream

before categorizing your problem as hardware issues - have you contacted your ISP? if not, do so first. although waiting on hold for an hour before you can talk with a usually less-than-helpful representative, they can check the connection leaving their facilities and being received by your modem.

if everything seems alright on their end, post again. include make and model of your modem and any routers or switches.

good luck!

My brothers pc can't get an IP from DHCP. But it gets a great signal.
I tried a windows auto fix but it didnt work.

Its not the ISP, we have two pc's on the wireless already.
It worked previously for a long time, but when he opened it it didn't. Its his computer.

The ethernet cord doesn't work either. Though it has an active light. I find this very odd. We tried different plugs in the router too.
It just can't make an IP address. Its set to Dynamic IP by the way. 192.168.1.1

Netgear Router
WinXP Pro SP2
ASUS A8N-VM CSM with GeForce 6150 (128mb onboard)
AMD64 4000+ 2.4G
1gb GEIL Ram (2x 512 dual channel)

Please help its really ruining the holiday :(

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

I'd also check to make sure that the DHCP service is running. Start> run> type services.msc> find the DHCP client service and if it's status is stopped right click it and select start. If it fails take a look in the event viewer in applications or system for error messages. Start> run> eventvwr.msc will get you to the event viewer.

I'd lose the nVidia firewall, it's nothing but trouble!
