i recently discovered winpup32 on my computer using ad-aware, and need help determining if i've gotten rid of the damned thing. i removed the files marked by ad-aware and fixed the ones that spybot s&d found. scanned my entire computer with norton anti-virus before using spybot, but it didn't show any problems. here is my hijackthis log, if someone could check it out and see if the virus is still hiding somewhere.

It's best to restart in Safe Mode to accomplish this, and have "show hidden files" checked in folder options > view.

To start in Safe Mode you can run msconfig and select the /safeboot option under the Boot.ini tab. This will have to be unchecked to return to normal mode.

In Safe Mode run Hijackthis and check the following entries, then select "fix checked":

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [windows sockets start up 32] AFIFEOY.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VnCplUpdate] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\MSDM\msdm.exe"

>> Delete the MSDM folder in c:\Program Files and the file AFIFEOY.EXE. You will have to do a search for the latter.

Post another Scanlog after rebooting.

The file will have almost certainly morphed(changed its name)but its no longer running so i wouldnt worry about it.
For peace of mind try this....
Go to Start > run, enter cmd

At the prompt enter:

del C:\WINDOWS\System32\AFIFEOY.EXE
Press enter.
;)
