Backup all your sensitive data (Internet Explorer Favorites, Netscape Bookmarks, Outlook Express contact lists, letters, pictures, databases, spreadsheets, music, etc.) to removable media for restoring later.
You'll need the drivers for your modem and any install programs for add-ins like CD Burners, Win98 will have the CDROM and mainboard drivers. A full version of Win98 may have the modem drivers but that's not for sure, Ok?
Using a Win98 Startup disk, you can get the download for creating one off http://www.bootdisk.com, in the [A] drive, restart your computer and choose to restart with CDROM support using the arrow keys below the Delete key, and strike the Enter key when prompted.
At the [A] prompt type, format c:, and strike the Enter key. Follow the on-screen instructions.
When done back at the [A] prompt and with the Win98 CD in the drive, type, e:, or, cd e:, and strike the Enter key; At the [E] prompt type, setup, and strike the Enter key. When scandisk is done strike the Tab key x1, then strike the Enter key. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Win98.
