windows xp goes into sleep mode and then reboots and stays in that loop part way through boot up (before welcome screen appears)

any bad sounds coming from the hard drive? kind of sounds like a Bad power supply, bad Hard drive or a corrupt OS. could throw heat into that but seems more like the others the way you explain it.

also check bios, is the time correct in the bios? if not then you have a dead bios battery and you should replace it.

Thanks for your help . Have just found that if I disconnect my logitech quickcam pro 5000 from usb port windows boots up ok
