Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum and I am hoping some one can bail me out of my problem. I recently bought a new computer and the OEM version of Windows XP. When I went to send an email i attempted to spell check the message. "No Go" it didn't work. I looked at the properties for outlook express and as far as I could tell everything appeared to be in order. I called microsoft, they wouldn't help unless I was prepared to shell out a Kings randsom first. I talked to a friend and he said perhaps I needed to build an association from my word 97 program??? Does this make sense or sound plausable? What are the things I should look at to correct this problem? Any suggestions?

Hiya and welcome

I'm sorting something out for my mate at work with the same problem....kinda.

Its lengthy, but we'll take it a step at a time, as there are different routes along the way, if you get my drift :p

Here goes:

Okay, I assume, then that you have Office97, yes?

Have you got your regional settings correct? Go to Control Panel | Regional Settings. Ensure its for your country and language, eg English (United States). If they are different, change them and see if it will work. If they are what they are supposed to be, lets try the next step.

Now, we're gonna reinstall the speller from your Win95 application. With Office, you can selectively uninstall and reinstall spelling as one of the Proofing Tools in the setup program. After you have reinstalled your speller, open OE again and see if it works.

If no joy, let me know. There are more steps to go.

Regards

Maybe you can get some help from this thread. After carefully reading the link Bryan gave I was able to find the file I was missing and make my spell checker work.

The file I was missing was Csapi3t1.dll it was supposed to be in C:/program files/common files/Microsoft shared/Proof

hope that helps
