Hiya

Invalid RDP Data can Cause Terminal Service Failure

The implementation of the Remote Data Protocol (RDP) in the terminal
service in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 does not correctly handle
a particular series of data packets. If such a series of packets
were received by an affected server, it would cause the server to
fail. The server could be put back into normal service by rebooting
it, but any work in progress at the time of the attack would be
lost.

It would not be necessary for an attacker to be able to start a
session with an affected server in order to exploit this
vulnerability - the only prerequisite would be the need to be able
to send the correct series of packets to the RDP port on the server.

Affected Software:

Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server

Removed the URL as the patch is corrupted, according to Microsoft.

The Windows 2000 is the corrupt one. WinNT is here:

Hiya

This is for Windows XP, but as its so near to the other date, I thought I'd tag it along here instead of creating anew thread.

AMD Power Now availability in XP

On mobile AMD Athlon 4 processors, AMD offers a technology called PowerNow! that controls your notebook computer's level of processor performance by dynamically adjusting its operating frequency and voltage according to the task at hand. At release, Windows XP Home and Professional Editions did not have the ability to take advantage of the AMD PowerNow! functionality. Laptop computers with the AMD Athlon 4 processor do not have the improved battery performance that is offered by the PowerNow! technology.

System Requirements

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
