Windows Media Player 9

I tried to download Windows Media Player 9 and it took almost an hour.
At the completion of the download I got this box"Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory(low memory for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file.
I have 192 megs of ram,and half of my 4.3HD space.
Does anyone know what a cabinet file is? or can tell me if and how to get player 9 loaded?

According to two sites I looked at - one possible thing to try would be deleting Temp. Internet Files and redownload WMP 9 if nothing else works.
