Hi. I currently have ME on an old computer (that my 2½ year old uses) and of course, he comes running when he gets the blue screen (of death!). I do have a copy of an XP upgrade. I had originally installed it, however our printer and scanner wouldn't function with XP, so I went back to ME. Now that I have a new computer, the old one doesn't need a printer or scanner. I know upgrading to XP from ME isn't suggested, however, the original OS on that computer was 98 (second edition) -- I had upgraded to ME. I'm wondering if I will have less problems if I uninstall ME and then upgrade to XP.

Any suggestions? I've already checked, and the computer meets or exceeds minimum requirements for XP, so that's not an issue. Just want to try to get rid of ME!

Thanks.
Erin :)

The best solution is a clean install of any O/S. This way you don't keep or make worse any of the problems with the previous O/S. Even if you have an Upgrade you can wipe everything off the drive during the XP setup. It should ask you to keep the existing format/partitions - say no and delete the current partitions and create new ones. With a clean install you'll know if its a software or hardware problem.
