Every time I turn on the computer, a popup says "installing fax" or "Windows Installer" and tries to install. I have tried everything to get rid of this from the system, but have to resort to control/alt/delete every time.

I am having same problem but a bit different when I load Microsoft outlook, Installer tries to install Microsoft front page and ask me for the disk, when I insert the CD it cannot find the files required.

Try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

If your PC is member of a local network, it is possible that your system administrator has assigned you the update for the program or installation for your PC. If this is the case, check with the administrator.
