I've been having this problem for a while now and I tried everything I could find to fix it. I scanned my computer with all sorts of programs to try and find the problem but in the end it keeps happening.
When I turn on my computer, I have to wait for about 1-2mins when it reaches the desktop, with the taskbar loaded and everything. If I don't, and instead click on a program on the taskbar/desktop, the taskbar/desktop freezes and I have to wait anyway.
After I get the first program open; opening programs from the desktop becomes slightly faster, but it still freezes the desktop(only). This applies to the taskbar too.

This is my HijackThis log:

Thanks in advance - sorry for the long post. :(

Edit: I just remembered seeing a windows error message box pop up every time I start my computer. It pops up and disappears so fast that I don't have enough time to read it, but one time it lagged and I think it said something about a .Net Framework error. Is there anyway to slow down the error message?

I'm having very similar experience. Can you open task manager and notice larger ram use of svchost.exe?
I've tried just about everything from AVG, McAfee, Spybot, Ad-Aware, reloading XP Pro...... and on and on.
If you receive help, please let me know.

Just to get the obvious out of the way.
How much memory does your system have?
How much free space as % does your hard drive have.
Have you done a disk cleanup recently?
Do you have a stack of information sitting on your desktop. That is Information, not just shortcuts?

How much memory does your system have?
I've got 512 RAM.

How much free space as % does your hard drive have.
37% on C.
70% on D.
51% on E.
However, I think it's just one hard drive split into 3. (Not sure)

Have you done a disk cleanup recently?
Last time I did was when I posted OP.

Do you have a stack of information sitting on your desktop. That is Information, not just
shortcuts?
Nope, I have about 10 icons altogether, the usual 5, and 5 shortcuts.

Hope that helps! :D

I suggest reposting in the security section as this line in your HJT log interests me.
<O3 - Toolbar: DAP Bar - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\dapiebar.dll>
I think you've clicked on something and installed a toolbar.
either way, you don't appear to have anti spyware installed.
Oops, yes you do, just saw nod32.
I suspect the toolbar is going to be related to your problem though.
