i'm running windows 98 on a spare pc, a box keeps popping up, this is what it says: this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. if the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

i can get on line, but get diconnected if i click the box off, can someone help me, please. thank you, debi's trying

Sounds to me like you are the victim of some pretty serious malware. Adaware is only one tool you can use to get rid of it. Its free here:
