What CD or DVD and why does it need to be copied to the hard drive?

Have you tried other DVD's?

Sounds like it may be a corrupted file on your user account. Unfortunately this would take forever to try and figure out exactly what file is causing the error.

So only resolution im aware of to get rid of the error would be to create and new profile and delete the old one on your pc.
the description for doing this on XP is here
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;811151

I know you running windows 7 but not much difference to be honest except your profile files are in c:\users instead of c:\documents and settings.

I very much doubt this is a problem on the machine models themselves as apposed to just a problem that stems from the systems files of your machine, same as it does for anyone having the same error who is not using an acer.

Like i said before though, finding the file will take an age or longer even for a heavily experienced tech support user. Your quickest and easiest resoloution is what i have suggested. As long as you make sure you backup all your files and copy over most of your settings to a new profile . You should be golden.
