I'm stumped!
When booting up win98 I get a message stating windows has found new vga compatible hardware searching for drivers. Then it says loading drivers and then shuts down and restarts. This computer had this problem before and was using windows ME. I did a scandisk and was amazed at the amount of bad clusters on the hard drive. I questioned the owner of the computer and they said the computer desk had once crashed down on the computer.
I have replaced the hard drive partitioned and formatted it at least 3 times loaded win98 at least 3 times, replaced the video card and I am at the point of suggesting a new Motherboard. What do you think.

Welcome to TSG!
Just a thought.......
Before investing in a Mobo you may want to rip out the power supply and have it bench tested. If it intermittently is dropping voltage at start-up which in theory is your largest current draw
it may be on the verge of failing.
