I have a strange problem. Or at least strange to me.

When people in the "Users" group of my machine try to access images .jpg or .gif for example they recieve the following error:-

"No File Format Information Can Be Found In The Registry"

and then when MS Photoeditor opens:-

"Invalid File Type"

It doesn't matter what program they try to use, they always recieve the error about no info in the registry.

Administrator on this same machine is able to open the images without issues.

In all cases, the Users have full rights to the images in the security settings.

Any ideas? Been driving me crazy..

I'm not running NT/2000/XP, but it does appear Gifs and Jpegs aren't among the registered file types on your machine.

You can check this by taking a look at Folder Options/File Types.

Do you see any entries for JPG or GIF there?

If not they need to be restored.
I have the correct Reg keys for Win98/ME, but I don't know whether these can be imported into your registry as they are.

However, you can recreate JPG and GIF file associations in Folder Options/File Types yourself as well.

Here's a useful article: Adding and Changing Windows File Type Associations

Good luck,
