Win2000 shuts down when playing Warcraft

Hey, anyone have any possible thoughts why my win2000 computer shuts down after playing Warcraft 3 for over 10 mins. No other progs cause this and i have tried uninstall reinstall. Let me know. thanks!

warcraft 3 is renowned for this, you will have to get the latest direct x (8.x) and also make sure you have the latest sound and video card drivers, even then it is touch and go if it will work properly. This has got to be the most problematic game out at the moment !!

No. I have never had that problem. For me WC3 loaded without a problem and has played flawlessly since. Here my specs:

P4 1.5ghz
GB850 Mobo
Geforce Ti 4400 PNY 128megs
Nvidia driver 41.09 (also ran under 40.72 without problems)
512meg RD800
WD600AB
WK2 SP3 with all of the latest critical updates
I trimmed a few services and harden by OS but otherwise am running the default OS / no special video tweaks.

My experience has been when I am having a problem with a specific game, your best results are to go to the official forum for that game and ask for help. Generally you will find avid fans that know the program inside and out and are eager to help you fix your problem so you can join in the fun. Hhmm. Could be, haven't kept up on gaming forums, but for me it was Hitman 2 and NOLF 2. I had NOLF 2 for 24 hours before I could get it to run properly and I had to breakdown and ask for help with Hitman 2 (Hitman 2 Forums). In both cases it was a sound problem. Hitman 2 wouldn't even start because of this problem.

you will find heaps of people with the same problem in these forums, some people can get to play many others can't or it crashes after 10 - 20 mins. I am relatively lucky, i can run it for my son for about an hour before it dies, it seems to occur when going from level to level, there is a lot of FMV and i think this is the cause when it "jumps" to this

No doubt. I wasn't doubting the claim just stating my experience, but your theory is funny because my biggest complaint about WC3 is that there is not enough FMV scenes for my taste. In fact, I felt a bit cheated because there are just a small number of FMV but tons of realtime scenes with voice overs. I kept thinking, cheap! Give me the FMV

I would expect double fold problems when Doom 3 comes out.
