Win Explorer problems

i really dunno what the problem is. Well lemme start at the beginning

see if i open a window and click any video file (mkv, avi, you name it) the win explorer closes.

if i try to open them using win media player, the win explorer closes and the media player can't play the file and also closes

now to complicate things, i got a file from my cousin which contained a worm, called I-Worm/VB.KU. i noticed the explorer problems after i got this file.

spyware guard detected it but i am not sure if it stopped it as i tried to heal it but it was in a cdrom so it could not be deleted, so did i get infected or what?

are my explorer problems because of the worm? everything else in my system is functioning ok BUT viewing media files.

i also tried vlc to play the media files, and all is ok. i also tried opening a file, and used the vlc as a window explorer and all went well. i used it to move files and stuff. so am i infected or is my explorer screwed or what?

BTW i ran avg free and avg anti spyware, Advanced Spyware Remover and ad aware and found no worms or trojans. please help, i don't want to format my HD.

just curious, i just got back, i had the scan at 11 hours but i needed to leave so i turned it off after cleaning/quarantine-ing the found infections. does this have any adverse effects on me finding all infection/s or is that just fine.

also when i got back earlier i tried to watch any vid, and the win explorer still goes screwy on me. so i think i still have a virus(or 2) since my win explore is still not up to snuff.

anyway i'm re scanning right now. the scan is faster now it seems.

its at 35hrs now. what now? it got stuck in a single file... wth? do i delete the file or what? what now? its actually finished, the bar is full, but it got stuck on a single file. a zip file.

EDIT: i stopped the scan as my comp has been on for 35 hours! and my cooling system isn't cut out for that.

any suggestions on what to do next? here's the hjt log

EDIT2: everything seems back to normal now, thanks a lot. what steps can i take to prevent this from happening again. i mean which anti virus works best or anti-malware do you suggest. that is if the log is clean. thanks much.

hiya! me again, after a massive slowdown of my internet connection, i went to some forums about it, some people sugested i scan for a malware. I thought "hey i just did!" but heck, i did it. lo and behold i found the same virii again!

HELP! i followed your instructions. i updated. anyway here is the spy sweeper log. and a hijack this log also.
