Just bought my first real computer, and for some reason I cannot receive any attachments in email. Model is Toshiba A10. Outlook Express is the email application I am using. No problem receiving general mail, just get a message with attachments saying OE has eliminated the attachments. They are there, just can't be accessed or moved.

Try this: Open OE, click tools, click options, go to the security tab and under virus protection uncheck: Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus. Click apply and close OE. When you reboot or reopen OE the changes should be in effect and allow you to receive att. Be sure you have an anti-virus program in place or you can wind up with real problems in short order. Please post results if this corrects your problem.

Sorry about the delay in responding. You really need virus protection in place before you continue doing anything on the internet. Some viruses will harvest your e-mail address and pretend that they are you. In other words you could receive an e-mail from yourself but it really was not you who sent it. There are several free anti virus programs available on the net. At least that way you would have something in place. Glad you got it sorted out.
