I think you should combine them - make the image a little more transparent and stick the logo over it. But then it could look too busy compared to the rest of the site - give it a go anyway.

The images are hosted on imageshack.us, so it might have been them, I don't have ads on my site.

Yeah, combine them. I like the example but I would emphasize the background and make the text a bit transparent. I think it would look better.
