Heres the deal. I have an HP Pavalion XE735. I got a new case (Aspire X-Dreamer II). The new case has an option of front USB. Where do the cables plug into on my motherboard so that I can use the front USB ports? I see a spot on my motherboard that reads "USB", but the plugs have don't fit....Like there are too many holes in the plug, and not enough spokes for the motherboard to plug into it Any help would be appreciated.

The HP moterboard may not support the front (extra) USB ports. Did the HP case have front USB as well?

There may or may not be a place on the Motherboard to connect the new USB ports then.

A Front usb header will usually have 8 or 9 pins on it. Usually only 8 of these are used. 4 per usb connector. They should have labels such as PWR USB- USB+ GND corresponding to each set of side by side pins 1/2 3/4 5/6 7/8
: : : :

The actual labels might not be the same. The colors on your USB connectors from the case should be Red White Green Black. Probably in that order. Red - 1/2 White - 3/4 Green - 5/6 Black - 7/8

If your front mounted USB ports have a regular USB connection on the end of the cable, you need to plug them into an internal plug on a PCI card or extend it out the back of the case and plug it into one of the rear ports.

According to the link you posted there is no place to attach the front usb connectors. To do so as long hair stated you will need a pci USB card. This could be a USB 2.0 card and will give you USB 2.0 to the front as well as probably 2 or 4 more USB ports out the back of the case as well.

So....this card will provide me with the 4 and 5 pin connectors that I need? I am not sure you guys are understanding the type of connections i am talking about. Let me show you what I'm talking about. Look at the attached image. That's not my motherboard, but that is the connection i need.

for Phatmattrat, look on page 1-19 of your motherboard manual. This shows where to connect your front USB or additional rear usb ports. If your case has as my case does individual little connectors for each wire, you should have 2 each red, white, green, black. Or maybe you get lucky and have a sinble connector for all 8 wires. Use the red for pin labeled USB+5V and USB+6V the white for pin labeled USB_5- and USB_6- Green for pin labeled USB_5+ and USB_6+ and black for pin labeled GND both.

The HP motherboard uses proprietary connections that will work with their front panels only, they're not designed to work with other cases.

Most PCI USB cards I've seen only have regular USB connections, not the pin connections, but you may get lucky and fine one...
